Suffolk Trusted Trader is being launched by Suffolk Trading Standards as a local business partnership scheme, becoming part of the Trusted Trader network on 8th September 2023.
The primary focus of the scheme is to protect Suffolk residents by having a list of reputable traders vetted and monitored by Suffolk Trading Standards that can be used locally. The additional aims of the Suffolk Trusted Trader scheme are to:
- Increase consumer confidence.
- Help protect citizens from doorstep crime.
- Encourage good business practice within local businesses.
- Promote vetted local businesses to the community.
The scheme will be the only official trader scheme in Suffolk that is backed by Suffolk County Council with members who are vetted and monitored by Trading Standards.
Membership benefits will be:
Credibility: Suffolk Trusted Trader logo for vehicles, letterheads, websites and marketing materials.
Access to Trading Standards advice: that ensures business documentation is up to date and any T&Cs are correct.
Promotion and visibility: traders should see increased work requests from the only official Trusted Trader scheme backed by the Council and promoted locally.
Suffolk Trading Standards are asking for Suffolk contacts to inform any business, that may benefit from being members, of the scheme and to ask them to fill in an expression of interest form. At launch they will then be contacted to sign up to the scheme, the link will remain open after launch.

The scheme will be funded by annual membership fees, which will be £252 including VAT, but the first 25 businesses to apply will get a 50% membership discount for the first 12 months.
