                                                Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer

                                                Bramfield & Thorington Parish Council is seeking to appoint a professional, organised and self-motivated Parish Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) on a permanent, part-time basis.

                                                The successful candidate will act as the Council's Proper Officer, ensuring Council decisions are implemented in accordance with statutory requirements, while also managing the Council's finances and governance responsibilities.

                                                This is a part-time role of approximately 3 hours per week, primarily home-based, with attendance at scheduled Parish Council meetings (participation via Zoom may be considered).

                                                Key duties and responsibilities:
                                                • Act as the Council's Proper Officer, ensuring legal compliance.

                                                • Prepare agendas, minutes and support Parish Council meetings.

                                                • Advise the Council on governance and procedures.

                                                • Manage the Council's finances, budgets and accounts.

                                                • Maintain records, policies and the Council website.

                                                • Liaise with residents, contractors and external organisations.

                                                • Ensure compliance with transparency and GDPR requirements.

                                                Person Specification:
                                                • Excellent administrative, organisational and communication skills.

                                                •  Able to work independently and manage workloads effectively.

                                                •  Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

                                                • Knowledge of financial administration and basic accounting.

                                                •  Professional and diplomatic approach.

                                                •  Previous Parish Clerk, RFO or local government experience desirable.

                                                •  Knowledge of local council procedures and finance is an advantage.
