SALC publications service
Whilst our service is predominantly electronic, on occasion we are asked for hard copy publications - such as The Good Councillor Guide to Being a Good Councillor. With the development of The Model Council (our online resource through the member portal) we have not replenished our stocks of these publications as this ensures information is up to date. There is also a minimum order requirement through NALC of 60 copies.
With elections in May 2023 we anticipate some councils might want to supply new councillors with a physical copy of The Good Councillor Guide to Being a Good Councillor. This is available free to download in any event but we have ordered a supply of these should your council wish to order hard copies through us.
The Good Councillor Guide 2018
Available as an electronic version using the link below or as a hard copy (Clerks, please complete the order form below). This is the current version and as at March 2023 NALC do not intend to update it within the next 6 months. Councils should be mindful that this publication was last updated in 2018.

REVISED PUBLICATION COMING SOON!
We have been advised by NALC (March 2023) that they are working on a revised version of the Good Councillor Guide to Being a Good Employer. We will promote once the revised version is available.
In the meantime the resources in The Model Council under "managing people" are extremely comprehensive supported by a wide range of editable templates.
