Funding available for town and parish councils
Improve the grass football pitch

The Football Foundation (FF) Grass Pitch Maintenance Fund

This fund is designed to either enhance or sustain grass pitches. Click on this link to view details about this fund.

The Enhance criteria is for pitches with a Performance Quality Standard (PQS) of 'basic' or below and the Sustain for pitches with a PQS of 'good' or higher. There are certain criteria for the fund which can be found at the above link. The funding provided must be used to carry out the recommendations from a PitchPower Assessment Report. These can include:

  • Contractor works e.g. slitting, scarification or decompaction

  • Purchasing materials e.g. seed or fertiliser

  • Purchasing equipment e.g. Soil Sampler

Routine maintenance work such as grass cutting and line marking are not eligible

There is some security of tenue requirements but if you have leasehold or freehold of the land, town and parish councils can apply, or if you lease or give permission to a club, they can be the applicant.

As a general rule the FF require £0 partnership funding for years 1 and 2, 33% for years 3 and 4 and 66% in years 5 and 6.

There was a recent webinar hosted by the Football Foundation which can be found here. The slide deck, which includes answers to the questions submitted during the webinar, is also available using this link.

This is a real opportunity to begin to improve our local community grass pitches across Suffolk. Please do get in touch and I can come out and see you to go through the steps and finer details.
