The Parish of Polstead is located in South Suffolk, some three miles from the town
of Hadleigh and eight miles from Sudbury. The Parish comprises the village of
Polstead and five hamlets. Rural in character, most of the Parish lies inside
Dedham Vale National Landscape. The Parish has a population of about 820, and
has an annual precept of approximately £28,000. The Parish Council currently
consists of 7 Councillors.
Salary: In accordance with National Joint Council (NJC) salary rates, experience,
and qualifications. For guidance, the current hourly rate for Spinal Column Point
(SCP) 9 is £13.06, equating to an annual salary of circa £5,433.
Hours: The hours are flexible equating to approximately 8 hours a week, to include
attendance at evening Parish Council meetings every month, held in Polstead
Village Hall on the third Thursday of each month, or as the Council deem
necessary. August and December meetings are held only if there are time-sensitive
matters such as Planning to discuss.
